A distant Shore With a palette knife, I've layered blues to evoke the vastness of the sky and the distant horizon in this small 9 x 3 in. piece, capturing that sense of atmospheric depth, particularly in the sky. I varied the blues to suggest cloud movement to create a convincing sense of space and distance. The thick impasto creates a tactile landscape, from the textured water to the rocky edges. Despite its miniature scale, I aimed to capture an atmospheric and immersive scene.
