Rare Quiet 希少な静寂 Kishō na Seijaku Oil on Acid-Free cardboard 10 in. x 9 in. Rare Quiet is a meditation on stillness — fleeting moments when land, water, and sky dissolve into one another. I worked in thin layers of oil, softening shoreline and water with horizontal strokes while shaping bare branches to echo fragility and endurance. The mood lies in what is left unsaid: no birds, no leaves, only the faint suggestion of ripples. Silence becomes the subject, reminding us that rarity often lives in what we overlook. Part of my ongoing Ipseity theme, it mirrors inner life — pared back, searching, and complete in its simplicity.
