I work primarily with a palette knife, a tool that lets me build dynamic surfaces through scraping, layering, and impasto. This technique gives my landforms sharp edges and a rugged, expressive quality. I love exploring texture—smooth skies contrast with the bold, gestural marks in the land and water, creating tactile depth. The knife demands boldness; there’s no room for hesitation. Each stroke is immediate and physical, capturing energy and emotion. Through this process, I explore Ipseity—the layered, shifting nature of self.
