I painted Island Just for You (16) entirely with knives — part of my Ataraxia series exploring serene calmness through expressive oil landscapes and small island paintings. In 2023, I set my brushes aside to work only with palette knives, building thick, textured layers that make each island feel alive, drifting quietly between sky and sea.
These small works were my way of giving collectors a place to pause — original oil paintings that bring a sense of calm and quiet presence into any room. I wanted each island to feel like a personal sanctuary, a gentle seascape to escape to, whether you live in a bustling city or a quiet coastal town.
This series laid the foundation for my ongoing Ipseity collection, where I go deeper into ideas of identity and selfhood through atmospheric landscapes. Owning one of these remaining Ataraxia islands means holding a moment of my artistic transition — from calm coastlines to more layered explorations of who we are and how we connect to nature.
Framed under glass in a black floating frame, with the painting gently elevated from its backing for a sense of quiet, contemporary elegance.
