Whispers in Green Oil on Masonite 9 in. x 3 in.
Whispers in Green is one of those quiet pieces that reveals itself slowly. I worked entirely with a knife, letting the textures guide the composition. The green tones came instinctively—layer after layer—until it felt like the landscape had its own rhythm, almost like breath. The two raised mounds aren’t literal hills or islands, but anchors in memory—solid, tactile, and grounding.
In this painting, I worked entirely with a palette knife, allowing layers of green to build up like soft geological strata—scraped, shaped, and pressed into place. As I worked, I found myself thinking about chlorophyll: once alive, now long gone, transformed into pigment, into colour, into memory. These greens are more than just paint—they’re echoes of what once breathed.
This piece is both quiet and vital—an expression of the living world and a meditation on time, memory, and renewal. The undulating textures and atmospheric tones are meant to evoke the serenity of a wind-swept meadow, while also hinting at the ancient life that came before
