Last Light Oil on Masonite 10 in. x 3 in
I painted this piece using a knife, letting bold strokes and thick textures shape its atmosphere. The format—10 x 3 inches—is deliberately unconventional, offering a panoramic glimpse into a moment of fleeting light. Framed under glass, the painting is slightly raised above a white background, adding depth and presence, as though the landscape floats within its own quiet space. Intense blues and greens press against a vivid orange-yellow horizon, capturing the emotional drama of the day's last light. The impasto surface invites a tactile response, each mark revealing the urgency of its making. This narrow composition draws the eye to the horizon, focusing attention on the shifting interplay of colour and light. Though modest in size, the work commands attention and fits easily into various spaces. It also hints at a larger series in the making—an exploration of landscape fragments and memory, told in bold colour and tight, evocative frames. All my miniatures are framed in black and glazed with a float-mounted frame, with the painting slightly raised from the background. They are shipped framed.
