Miroitement. The French carries something my mother tongue doesn't quite manage on its own - not just shimmer, but the specific flicker of light caught and thrown back by a moving surface, water most of all.
I worked the lower band in an interference and iridescence gold, a pigment that does not hold one colour under ordinary light. Move past it and it shifts, warmer or cooler depending on where you stand and what the light is doing that hour.
Sage through the top two thirds, a break of warm orange where sky meets water, rose and plum beneath, darker where the paint pooled. Nine inches wide, three tall, small enough to hold in one hand.
The piece floats under museum glass in a slim black frame, lifted just off its backing so the edges and the texture of the paint stay in view - less a window sealed shut than a small opening onto something larger, especially here, where the light itself keeps moving across the surface.
